Institutional Profile

Shanmuga Industries Arts and Science College (SIASC) is an affiliated College of Thiruvalluvar University. As the motto of the College praises “Study, Service, Sincerity” Shanmuga Industries Arts and Science College was founded by the Shanmuga Industries Educational Trust in the year 1997 as per Go. no 666, Education and Science Technology (Z1) Department of Tamilnadu, dated 19.09.1996. It was started by the eminent legislator and philanthropist late Sri Murugaiyan Ex M.P along with his like minded partners of the Shanmuga Industries Group to provide Quality Higher Education to the people of the backward area, Tiruvannamalai and its surroundings. Under the able guidance and vision of our Respected Chairman Mr. G. Pullaiya, Mr.T.A.S. Muthu, M.A., Secretary & Correspondent and Mr. M. Srinivasan, B.E., Treasurer, our college celebrating Silver jubilee year. Over these 24 years the number of UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph. D Programmes were gradually upgraded and at present there are 204 teachers, 5721 students, 17 UG Programmes, 9 PG Programmes, 8 M.Phil., Programmes and 7 Ph.D., Programmes.

Shanmuga Industries Arts and Science College, Tiruvannamalai is geographically situated in Manalurpet Road, Tiruvananamalai, Tiruvannamalai District, Tamil Nadu (TN), India. The name Tiruvannamalai is very familiar for the God Annamalaiyar Temple and Full moon Girivalam. It is the big municipality and a main place of Tiruvannamalai District. It is approximately 85 kms from Vellore, 65 kms from Villupuram, 180 kms from Chennai and 220 kms from Bangalore. It is “Great Leap” that the higher education institution was accorded 2(f) recognition by the UGC on 17th March 2015 and permanent affiliation has also been granted by Thiruvalluvar University dated 24.03.2016. As a further milestone this Higher Education Institution (HEI) is accorded with 12(B) by the UGC on 07.06.2016. The various Programmes offered by the higher Education institution helps rural youth not only to come up in their life and also to contribute to nation building. Teaching faculty, mostly well qualified and many of them have been approved by the parental University, contribute the role in upholding the motto of the institution.

The HEI, fully managed by a well known Trust, Shanmuga Industries Educational Trust provides all facilities and infrastructure to cater the need and demand of the institution with so many UG and PG programmes. There are about 102 classrooms, 18 Labs and a spacious digital library. The entire College is spread over 10.74 acres of land with a building area 17,630.99 sq.mts. The Master Plan of the College gives a clear picture of the facilities including the State of the Art auditorium and necessary equipments in all the Labs.

Facilities like Transport, Canteen (Separately for Boys and Girls) and Purified Drinking RO water provided at all blocks serve the needs of the students. General Library with a good collection of over 14,500 Books and 45 journals, Inflibnet, NDL which helps the students in a greater way.

To inculcate the spirit of social responsibility the institution provides scope through NSS, YRC, RRC, ROTRACT and LEO Club. The Placement Cell and Career Guidance Cell help the students to find suitable placement on completion of the study. The institution takes much care to maintain and improve infrastructure facilities.

This institution also stands in the forefront for promoting research bent of mind. Seminars, Symposiums and Conferences are often conducted which helps the faculty and students to take interest in research and update their knowledge. Participation, Presentation and Publication of Research Papers enthuse the staff and students for further research.

Department of Business Administration

The Department of Business Administration started its journey towards impart a management education in June 2008. With an objective of motivating and mesmerizing maturing managers, the department has been involved in developing student centric course curriculum and industry based learning methodologies. Presently, more than 400 students are studying in the department and 11 faculty members are working in the department. Department dynamically organizing various seminars, online quiz, management events, online short term courses, invited talk and such other related management programmes. Department of faculty members actively participated in various conferences, seminars, publishing papers in national and international journals, faculty development program and management development program.
